8 bells unfog the entire map of Pywel. Locations, climbing tips, story locks, and the Toll of Pywel faction questline — ring them all in your first 5 hours.

Quick overview
- There are 8 Hidden Bells across Pywel. Ringing each unfogs a chunk of the world map.
- Each bell counts as one quest in the Toll of Pywel questline for the Priorin Forest Guardians faction — extra Abyss Artifacts as a side benefit.
- All 8 are reachable from Chapter 1 except Toll of Pailune (requires Chapter 7) and Toll of Calphade (paused during Chapter 6).
- Ringing is dead simple: walk up, interact, watch the cutscene with a Shai Resident.
- Total time investment: ~3-5 hours if you string the climbs efficiently. Massive payoff for the rest of the playthrough.
Why ring them now (not later)
- Unfogging the map shows roads, towns, fast travel candidates — every other collectible run becomes 2-3× faster.
- Sealed Abyss Artifacts are easier to find when you can see road outlines on the world map (their minimap proximity icon snaps to roads).
- Toll of Pywel quests award Abyss Artifacts (skill points) — pure value before you spend hours grinding them via combat.
- Calphade goes hostile during Chapter 6, then unlocks again. Skip it and you'll forget when it reopens.
- Pailune Bell unlocks only after Chapter 7 — set a mental bookmark to grab it the moment you liberate Pailune.
Bell 1 — Toll of Hernand (clocktower)
- Region: Hernand. The starter bell — most players grab this within the first hour.
- Location: clocktower in the northern part of Hernand town.
- Approach: climb the exterior of the clocktower until you reach the bell platform.
- No story lock. Available immediately after the prologue.
- Tip: while you're up there, scout for Mysterious Energy fog patches around Hernand to plan your next collectible run.

Bell 2 — Toll of Scholastone (mountain pagoda)
- Region: Hernand (south-west). Scholastone is the tower atop a mountain.
- Location: pagoda at the end of the garden path on the plaza at the top of Scholastone Institute.
- Approach: climb the surrounding mountains. Use Force Palm in midair (R3 / Mouse Wheel) up to 3 times in a row to catapult upward.
- No story lock. Possible from Chapter 1, but Force Palm makes it dramatically easier.
- Bonus: while at Scholastone you can later trigger the Focused Force Palm Watch & Learn during Chapter 4.

Bell 3 — Toll of Calphade (church) — paused in Chapter 6
- Region: Hernand (north). On top of the church.
- Story note: temporarily unavailable during Chapter 6 — area goes hostile and the Shai Resident cutscene won't trigger.
- Best window: ring it BEFORE Chapter 6 to be safe. After Chapter 6 it reopens.
- Approach: climb the church facade. Several ledges and the steeple itself give clean grips.
- If you forget pre-Chapter 6 and it goes hostile, just wait — it returns to normal once Chapter 6 ends.

Bell 4 — Toll of Demeniss (flagpole puzzle)
- Region: Demeniss (central). Capital of Demeniss.
- Location: tallest clocktower in the city — but the bell isn't visible from outside.
- Puzzle: climb to the flagpole hanging on the side of the clocktower. Hang from it. Your weight pushes it down, which lowers the bell from the top of the tower.
- Now climb to the top floor and ring the bell.
- Best-hidden of the 8 — the bell icon doesn't even appear on the map until you've activated it.
- Heavy enemy presence in Demeniss until late story — run past, don't engage.

Bell 5 — Toll of Delesyia (capital clocktower)
- Region: Delesyia (south-east).
- Location: clocktower in the north-west part of the Delesyia capital.
- Approach: standard clocktower climb — exterior to the bell platform.
- No puzzle, no story lock. Highest enemy density on the route to it — pack 100+ Grilled Meat just in case.
- While in Delesyia, take the chance to grab nearby Sealed Abyss Artifacts and unlock the regional Abyss Nexus.

Bell 6 — Toll of Tommaso (Tashkalp)
- Region: Crimson Desert (north-east). Capital of Tashkalp.
- Long ride from Hernand — 25-30 minutes if you don't have any Abyss Nexus along the way.
- Pair this trip with the Scolecite/Azurite mining loop along the road to Varnia — pays for the journey.
- No puzzle, no story lock. Just climb the Tashkalp central structure and ring.
- Tip: while in the Crimson Desert region, mine Diamond clusters and pick up nearby Sealed Abyss Artifacts.

Bells 7 & 8 — the late-game pair (Pailune story-locked)
- Bell 7 closes out the central / north regional set — verify the latest exact location on the source link before traveling.
- Bell 8: Toll of Pailune — locked behind Chapter 7 main story (liberation of Pailune).
- Once Pailune is liberated, the bell becomes accessible inside the Pailune capital. Story locks are the only thing gating it.
- Combine the Bell 8 trip with the late-game Sealed Abyss Artifacts run in Pailune — cleanest single trip.
- Don't ring Pailune Bell during active combat or hostile zones — wait for the area to stabilize after liberation cutscenes complete.
