Walkthrough

1. 1Travel to Hernand Square and locate the group of knights discussing the Greymanes
2. 2Identify Matthias (the knight leader) seated with three companions
3. 3Initiate conversation with Matthias to trigger the one-on-one duel
4. 4Defeat Matthias in a two-phase boss fight using light and heavy attack combos
5. 5Avoid his Pump Kick attack by dodging sideways — the animation gives you ~1 second to react
6. 6Punish missed Pump Kick attacks with heavy attacks while his recovery animation plays
7. 7Manage stamina between attack sequences — light attacks cost no stamina, heavy attacks do
8. 8Use food items for healing by holding the directional button and cycling with R2/RT
9. 9Complete the duel to finish the quest

Tips

• The Pump Kick is Matthias' most dangerous attack — practice dodging sideways to avoid knockback
• Heavy attacks have the longest recovery window — use them sparingly but for maximum damage
• Light attack combos (3 hits) are safe and cost no stamina — chain these between heavy attacks
• After a missed Pump Kick, Matthias has extended recovery — this is the best time for heavy attacks
• Bring plenty of healing items — this is the first multi-phase boss fight, so stamina and health matter
• The duel is unavoidable — this is mandatory combat training for Chapter 2
