Quick overview
- Pywel = the continent. 5 ground regions + Abyss as a sky layer of floating islands.
- Recommended order maps to story progression — going off-route gets you one-shot by over-leveled mobs.
- Each region has 1-2 hub cities with stable, vendor, notice board, constable.
- Abyss is unlocked through main story Chapter 5+ and uses its own fast-travel network (see Abyss Nexus guide).
- Use this guide to plan side-content runs between story missions.
1. Hernand — starting region (Ch 1-3, Lv 1-25)
- Largest, most populated region. Rolling green fields, forests, medieval cities.
- Hub city: Hernand City. Secondary: Greymane Camp, Sunset Valley.
- Do here: all Commission quests (+~30 bag slots), bounty intro, beginner skill grinds.
- Boss intro: Myurdin (story), Matthias (side).
- Don't leave Hernand until you've cleared Greymane's 27 Commissions — biggest slot payout in the game.
2. Demeniss — political capital (Ch 4-5, Lv 25-40)
- Imperial seat: fortified cities, military installations, golden plains.
- Hub city: Demeniss City (largest in-game settlement, full vendor selection).
- Faction reputation gates here — pick a side carefully, locks side-quests in other factions.
- Boss intro: Hornsplitter, Reed Devil — buff food (Fish Porridge for Reed Devil) is mandatory.
- Calphade joins as a sub-region with the best mid-tier blacksmith.
3. Pailune — frozen north (Ch 7+ lock, Lv 35-50)
- Snow-covered mountains, steep terrain, limited visibility — bring Ice Resistance buff or you take constant damage.
- Story-locked behind Chapter 7 — don't try to brute-force in earlier.
- Hub: Beighen (gambling den, premium blacksmith, Five-Card table).
- Wyvern unlock chain starts here.
- Hidden Bells of Pywel: 5 of 8 are in Pailune — see Hidden Bells guide.
4. Delesyia — tech region (Ch 8-9, Lv 45-60)
- Pywel's most technologically distinct region — dwarven engineering, underground city.
- Mech mount unlock chain runs here — section 5 of the Mounts guide.
- Hub: Calphade (mid-region) and the dwarven underground city in late Delesyia.
- Bosses: Kearush (mech-themed mid-boss), late-game faction leaders.
- Best place to farm crafting components for endgame gear.
5. Crimson Desert — endgame (Ch 10+, Lv 55-70)
- The titular region: vast red sand, raptor packs, sandstorms that block fast-travel.
- Hub: Akum, an oasis trading post on the desert's western edge.
- Sealed Abyss Artifacts cluster here — see the dedicated guide.
- Bosses: Queen Stoneback, Hexe Marie phase-2 — endgame parry tests.
- Bring water rations or buy from Akum — heat depletes stamina even outside combat.
6. Abyss — sky layer (Ch 5+, parallel progression)
- Floating islands above Pywel — accessed via Abyss Nexus pads scattered on the ground regions.
- Independent fast-travel network: 138 nexus pads, 60 cressets, 141 sealed artifacts.
- Abyss Cores power your Constellation skill tree — see the dedicated Abyss Cores guide.
- Bosses are tougher than ground — bring buff food and a Tier-3+ weapon.
- Best loot per minute in the game — abyss artifacts sell for 50-200 silver each.
